Review: The second book in the Excalibur Investigations Series brings us back into the world of Cate and Jason and their team of justice fighters. Someone is killing Council members and Jason and Cate have to find the murderer. While doing that they are also planning a wedding, continuing to learn how to work together as true partners, dealing with being the Grand Mistress and Grand Master, and finally trying to save and set free the Nuardians. With all of that you would think that the plot is jam-packed, and you would be right, a lot is going on, which keeps the story moving along, but I found parts of the plot slow. There wasn’t a lot of passionate scenes and the one they did have wasn’t described in detail. The plot line was good. The conflict and villains were good. You don’t know who the murderer is until the author wants you to know, which makes for a good read, it isn’t predictable. There wasn’t much emotional turmoil or strife between the love interests; there was potential, but it ended up falling flat. I wish it had been more of a page turner. I can’t put my finger on what exactly made it slow. The writing was good, there were no gaps or confusions in information. The author from page one to the last page does keep a clear vision of what her story is going to be. There was a lot of action, but I did want more passion!
