Masters vol 2Reckless: House of Furia (Masters of Seduction, Vol. 2, Book 8) by Alexandra Ivy

Synopsis: Tiege never expected to become Master of Furia, not until his brother’s mate was kidnapped and brutally killed. With his House in mourning, Tiege has no choice but to lead, although that doesn’t halt his hedonistic lifestyle. Sloane is a former Nephilim Blade who is dedicated to duty. She has nothing in common with the reckless Incubus–except a dangerous passion. But it’s that passion they must draw upon in order to raise the spirit of a long-dead Succubus whose stunning revelations could topple the Obsidian Throne forever…

Review: I enjoyed the last novella in Volume 2.  I didn’t like it as much as I enjoyed the Cinderella-esk Laura Wright story (Dauntless), but I enjoyed it more than I did Lara Adrian (Priceless) and Donna Grant’s (Boundless) installments. This one had the very bad boy Tiege who enjoyed the wild orgy style life of a Succubus and Sloane, the ex-Blade who butted heads with Tiege every time they were in the same room together. What neither was willing to acknowledge was that they both desired the other, and it took them being placed in a situation where he needed to feed and she was the only Nephilim available.  Their relationship was enjoyable to read about.  She made him work for it and I liked that.  The Succubuses, up to this point, really didn’t experience a woman fight back, and Tiege needed that for him to truly see and acknowledge his feelings for her.  I enjoyed it.

Favorite Quote: This one is between Tiege and Sloane when they are coming to the realization that he won’t be able to find a Nephilim to feed from before he performed the ritual, and he realizes that he can feed off her (once he let his defenses down…he realizes that he has been fighting against the attraction to the point that he forgot that she was Nephilim). I call it “Titanimum Plated”.

Twenty minutes later, he tossed the phone back on the desk.

“Dammit,” he snarled, frustration thundering through him.

He’d called over a dozen of his most trusted contacts only to have them refurse to answer, or give him some lame excuse of why they couldn’t travel to Vegas to be his companion.

“Not as irresistible as you believed?” Sloane drawled in sweet tones.

Tiege whirled, intending to snap back a reply. This was serious. More than serious.

If he didn’t get a Nephilim to feed on…

His thoughts shattered as his gaze landed on her slender body and defensive expression as she prepared for his usual mockery. Abruptly he was struck by a thought.

A hideous, gloriously irresistible thought.

“You find this amusing?” he murmured, strolling back across the room.

“Why would I?” she demanded, making a half-assed effort to disguise her pleasure at the thought of him being turned down by the females.

“Because you love the thought of my arrogance being smashed?”

She snorted. “I seriously doubt that anything could smash your arrogance. It’s titanium plated.”

Favorite Quote 2: A passion filled moment I call “Atomic Bomb”.

***Explicit content***

Burying his face in the curve of her neck, he kept his pace slow and steady, his hands spreading her legs so he could find a deeper angle. Her nails scored up his back, her body arching as she neared her climax.

“Tiege,” she groaned. “Don’t stop.”

“Don’t worry,” he muttered in thick tones. “A fucking nuclear bomb couldn’t stop me now.”

Overall, Volume two really didn’t have anything resolved.  They talked abut the throne and their work to overthrow the Marakel line from the throne, but nothing really exciting happens in this volume.  It is like they dragged it out (and not in a good way), so they could have a third volume.  The thing is, each story could have been so much more, and they each had their moments where they fall short.  I hope volume three is better.
